About Madeline McKinnell

“I am a maker of many things (puppets, zines, costumes, stilts, set designs) and I am a teacher. Social dancing is such an exciting form of community organizing to me because it combines so much together (movement, music, conversation, food etc) in ways that are accessible, joyful, and challenging. I am new to organizing in this world but I am eager to learn and grow my skills and I can’t wait to hear about how everyone does this in their own communities.”

Madeline McKinnell (she/her) is a maker of many things. She centers imagination and experimentation when creating and her goal is always to try hard and love the process. Puppets and zines are her current passions as she continues to investigate how we can transform recycled/found materials into magic - into unravellings of our inner and outer worlds.

Madeline is also a teacher and has taught in classrooms, theaters, school yards, rivers, and the occasional laneway. She draws from her extensive experience as a puppeteer, production manager, designer, and artist educator to facilitate accessible, safe, and inspiring places both within and beyond the classroom.
