About Tara Mazurk

Tara Mazurk is an emerging Canadian contemporary artist based in the Ottawa and Outaouais region.

Her graphite drawings explore the natural world and its hidden dimensions. Sweeping movements of graphite powder and eraser, paired with shapes and edges created through custom stencils, reveal subtle, immersive spaces. Mixing mineral with the artist's application, the medium explores thresholds between hard and soft, dark and light, the known and unknown environment.

Influenced by intersections with other disciplines - including sculpture, illustration, and dance - she creates landscapes that are somatic and subconscious, inviting an appreciation of Earth's subtle and imaginatory dimensions. Others have described her work as dreamlike and mystical.

Tara holds a BA (Hons) Specialist degree in Arts Management with a Minor in Studio Art from the University of Toronto. With a background in arts management and curation, she has over a decade of experience working with artists and institutions. She began her career as a staff curator for Humber College, where she helped manage exhibitions, the collection, and launched the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre. She also worked as an advocacy and government relations consultant for the arts, advocating for policies that support creators and community initiatives. She has taught in the post-graduate Arts Management program at Centennial College, and has taught Arts Advocacy in continuing studies at OCAD U.

Tara is a member of Place des Artistes de Farrellton (PAF) and has participated in local studio tours and group exhibitions. Her practice continues to evolve through the exploration of movement, landscape, material, and perception.
