A multidisciplinary artist who resides in Chelsea Quebec, Diane Lemire draws inspiration from the history of the area and is fascinated by the numerous possibilities natural fibers give her in felt making.
Artiste multidisciplinaire de Chelsea Quebec, Diane Lemire tire son inspiration de l’histoire de la région. Elle est fascinée par les innombrables possibilités que lui offrent les fibres naturelles pour ses creations.
Diane has a background in sculpture and is well known for her eccentric and sophisticated approach to making wearable art and constructions with fibre and found objects. Her understanding of the medium allows for experimentation with texture, form, pattern and colour, making it unique in the world of felting. She creates items for draping the body (including scarves, shawls and dresses), wall sculptures and 3-dimensional forms of thematic exploration. In 2010, Diane was awarded the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum Award.
Without a doubt, her work is dynamic, well-crafted and full of character. Take advantage of this opportunity to wrap yourself in her creativity!
